Kysre Gondrezick, the former WNBA guard, has embraced a whirlwind of opportunities since being cut by the Chicago Sky in June.

Despite limited on-court action during the 2023 season, the 27-year-old athlete has been busier than ever, balancing basketball training with a burgeoning career in fashion and acting.

Far from sidelined, Gondrezick is proving that life after the WNBA can be just as dynamic as her time in the league.

Known for her standout style, Gondrezick has caught the attention of major brands, including Victoria’s Secret, thanks to her sharp fashion sense and bold tunnel fits.

Her transition from the court to the fashion world has been seamless, with appearances at major events like New York Fashion Week and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

She even attended the Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show in September alongside her boyfriend, NBA star Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, further cementing her presence as a style icon.

Reflecting on her eventful year, Gondrezick told The New York Post, “It’s been a heck of a year. It is funny, someone said, ‘You have trended more since you’ve been cut and since you were in the league – and you were trending so much in the league.’ I’m just living in the beauty of my purpose.”

But fashion isn’t her only focus. Gondrezick is also exploring the world of acting, taking classes and preparing to shoot film projects slated for release in 2025.

Balancing multiple passions, she continues to look ahead to what’s next while staying grounded in her love for basketball.

A Return to the Court Still in Sight

Despite her success off the court, Gondrezick remains dedicated to her basketball career. She has been training rigorously, aiming for a potential comeback in the WNBA.

“Basketball is my true love,” she shared. “I don’t think I’m done anytime soon. I don’t want to say that [being cut] was an ending. I want to say it was more so a transition.”

Gondrezick is also considering participation in the newly formed 3×3 “Unrivaled” league, spearheaded by WNBA stars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. While she wasn’t selected in the initial draft, two wildcard spots remain open, leaving the door ajar for her entry.

“I’m staying ready so that I don’t have to get ready,” Gondrezick explained, adding that her team is in active discussions with coaches and general managers.

Still, many on social media had a field day with the “news,” about Reese and Simmons.

Reese’s rookie season field goal percentage was 39.1, which was still much worse than Simmons’s 54.4% this season through 12 games played.

Reese had an amazing collegiate career with LSU, but many don’t know she played at Maryland her first two seasons.

She’s since opened up about the process of transferring to LSU on her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.

“Getting up and transferring, it’s scary,” Reese said. “But I won a national championship from it. So I was like, ‘I got something out of it.’

“It wasn’t a perfect situation. Every day I didn’t come to practice like, ‘Yeah, I love being here.’ But at the end of the day, I got what I wanted out of it. Now I look back and I love LSU,” she continued.

Drafted seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the rookie made an immediate impact as she set rookie records and earned a spot in the All-Star Game. Despite that, the haters continued to go against her all year.

Angel Reese, who wrapped up her rookie season in September, decided she had finally had enough and responded to one of them who pointed out her offensive struggles in the paint. “U realize u can’t make a lay up on the first try most times, right,” the person wrote on X on Tuesday night.

Reese saw it and fired back: “Do you realize I got drafted 7th in my class while ‘missing layups’ as a ROOKIE shooting 39% on the year & was STILL a all star and that was the worst you’ll ever see me??? Or you just laid up with your dog at home hating Adam?”

On the surface, that appeared as if Reese just buried that fan, but her comments backfired on her terribly.

“I do! You got drafted high for a reason but u still brick tons of layups lol. Your fg % is inflated because u put up a ton of put backs, but I hope to see you progress as a player & succeed. Also coming at my dog is weird, he doesn’t play basketball,” the fan fired back at Angel Reese.

“Shooting 39% is not a brag. Its pretty bad for your position,” one fan stated.

“Missing layups and shooting 39%, while still being an “a all star” isn’t the flex you think it is,” another person quipped.

“39% on layups cause that’s all ya did 💀,” one commenter stated.

Angel Reese Had A Solid Rookie Year That Was Cut Short

On Tuesday night, Angel Reese revisited a post from December 2023, when fans on social media were asked whether she was a first-round pick.

The majority of people stated, “No.”

Despite how people feel about Reese, her solid season and numbers proved how good she was and how much better she can be.

The Chicago Sky rookie was the WNBA leader this season in total rebounds per game and offensive rebounds per game before she was slated to miss the rest of the season because of a wrist injury.

Her final game of the year saw her finish with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

She ended her year averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game this season.

Despite her instant fame, Sydney Thomas is still working toward a degree in management and entrepreneurship. She also plans to finish school one year early.

Sydney Thomas — a student at the University of Alabama — is having quite a week.

Over the weekend, Sydney Thoms revealed she reached the 1 million follower mark on TikTok.

“We just hit 1,000,000 followers on TikTok !!” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, via the New York Post. “I cannot express enough how grateful I am for each and every single one of you. I love you guys, thank you.”

That number came less than 10 days after she appeared at the boxing match.

Kayla Simmons comes from an athletic family. Her father played baseball at the University of Florida, and her great-grandfather pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

It is in her blood.

In high school, Simmons was quite the beast, racking up 3196 assists, 877 digs, 517 kills, 251 aces, and 89 blocks at the P.K. Yonge Development Research School at the University of Florida.

Kayla Simmons’ freshman year at Marshall saw her appear in 26 matches and record a career-high 17 assists in her Herd debut in 2014. That year, she was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and awarded the C-USA Academic Medal.

The following year, in 2015, Simmons played in 30 matches and led her squad in assists with 1,112. She also set a season-high in assists that year with 57 during the Panthers Invitational. Once again, Simmons was named to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll and awarded the C-USA Academic Medal.

In her junior year, which would be her final season, Simmons appeared in 26 matches and was named to the Toledo/ASICS All-Tournament team after recording 69 assists and 14 digs at the invitational.
