Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has emerged as the new front-runner to purchase one of the NFL’s most valuable franchises.

You may recall that Jeff Bezos had interest in purchasing the Washington Commanders from Dan Snyder, but they wound up selling the franchise to the Josh Harris-led group for $6.05 billion.

There have also been rumors about Bezos potentially buying the Seattle Seahawks. Since Paul Allen’s passing in 2018, the team has been run by his sister, Jody Allen.

Speculation is growing about New York Jets owner Woody Johnson potentially selling the team as the Jets finish out another disastrous season. The Jets entered 2024 with Super Bowl expectations, but Aaron Rodgers and company have been a giant disappointment with a 3-8 record.

According to Bovada, Jeff Bezos is now the betting favorite to purchase the Jets from Johnson and take over as their next owner. Johnson has owned the football organization since 2000.

Regarded as one of the NFL’s worst owners, Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas just six weeks apart mid-season. It has also been reported that he lobbied for the Jets to bench Rodgers.

The Jets haven’t made the postseason since 2010, the longest active drought among NFL teams. They haven’t had a winning season since 2015 and are on their way to finishing with double-digit losses for the fifth consecutive year.

Jeff Bezos Has The Resources To Become An NFL Owner

In August, Forbes listed the Jets’ value at $6.5 billion. They also estimate Bezos’ net worth at $221.4 billion, so purchasing the football team at or around that valuation would be pocket change for the Amazon boss.

Woody Johnson hasn’t at all indicated that he’s looking to sell the Jets. But it just takes one monumental offer to do so, and few people on the planet could outbid Jeff Bezos in a potential ownership battle.

Fox rules analyst Mike Pereira said on the broadcast that Sanders was ‘lucky’ he wasn’t thrown out of the game.

He escaped then, but there had been calls of him being suspended because of his actions.

Shedeur Sanders will not face suspension over his shove of a ref during Colorado’s Week 13 loss to Kansas on Saturday, according to Buffzone.com’s Brian Howell.

The incident is being “handled internally with CU,” according to Howell’s report.

“There were a few articles this weekend about Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders facing a possible suspension for shoving a ref Saturday vs. Kansas,” wrote Howell. “There will be no suspension. Talked to a Big 12 source who told me that’s being “handled internally with CU.”

Shedeur Sanders And HC Deion Not On The Same Page

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders admitted that his Buffaloes team became “intoxicated with success” after a brutal defeat on the road against Kansas.

“We started smelling ourselves a little bit,” Sanders told reporters. “That’s what I just told our team. We got intoxicated with the success. We got intoxicated with the multitude of articles and the assumption that we’re this and the assumption that we’re that. And we did not play CU football. Therefore, we got our butts kicked.”

The 8-3 Buffaloes are having a great year, but due to the loss, they no longer control their destiny ahead of the college football playoffs.

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders did not agree with his father’s comments.

Sanders completed nearly 80% of his passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns in the loss against Kansas.

A reporter asked Shedeur how the team “sobers up” after Deion’s “intoxicated with success” remarks.

The NFL has hit back at claims the Kansas City Chiefs received a favorable call after holding on for a nerve-wracking win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Black Friday.

The Chiefs, now 11-1, looked set to fall to their second defeat of the season as the Raiders drove down the field and in position for a game winning field goal in the closing stages of the game.

Instead disaster struck for Las Vegas when quarterback Aidan O’Connell couldn’t get his hands on an errant snap, which ricocheted off his chest.

Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton was quickest to the ball and recovered it, though a flag was thrown on the play. Many believed a false start was set to be called, which would have blown the play dead and allowed the Raiders to keep possession of the ball

However, after the officials came together to discuss the play, an illegal shift was called. That penalty doesn’t result in the play being blown dead, meaning the Chiefs got the ball before kneeling out the clock to claim a 19-17 win.

The decision has generated plenty of discussion on social media, with some fans believing the referees made a mistake and favored the Chiefs.

NFL clears up penalty call

After the game Raiders reporter Vic Tafur asked the NFL to clear up the call, and according to the league’s ruling, an illegal shift was the correct call because the clock was stopped before the play.

And they could have running back Isiah Pacheco back on the field for the first time since Week 2.

Running back Pacheco was key to Kansas City’s run to Super Bowl glory last season.

He fractured his fibula in the second game of this season against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Reid confirmed that the Chiefs plan to activate Pacheco and defensive end Charles Omenihu ahead of Week 13.

But the Chiefs face a short week with the Friday game.

And Reid has a decision on whether to risk playing Pacheco and Omenihu.

“As long as they’re OK,” Reid responded when asked if the pair would play.

“We’ll check on it again today, try to take it day by day.

“If they’re good after today, then we’ll play them.”

Kansas City has an eight-day break before their next game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

One NFL team has been snubbed on Thanksgiving Day yet again. The Jacksonville Jaguars have been around for nearly 30 years but have never played on the holiday, with the league refusing to schedule them.

This Thanksgiving will pit the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Giants, while the Detroit Lions will play the Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers will face the Miami Dolphins.

The Jags, meanwhile, will go another year without playing on the holiday.

The team has played in London on several occasions but continues to miss out on Thanksgiving for a few reasons that actually make sense.

Of course, money tops the NFL’s list of priorities, which explains why Jacksonville continues to be overlooked.

The city is the fourth-smallest among NFL locations, so its market isn’t comparable to New York, Miami, Chicago, and Dallas. It also has one major professional sports team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars Have Little To Show For Their Near-30 Years Of Existence

The Jags also haven’t won anything since they were founded in 1995, having never made a Super Bowl appearance.

They appeared in two AFC Title Games during their first five years of existence but haven’t done anything of note in the playoffs since this side of the year 2000. While other small-market teams have shown mettle on the field, the Jaguars have not made a case for themselves.

That they’re 29 years in existence has also played into the NFL’s decision-making. Football Thanksgiving traditions have been around much longer than the Jags, so they’ve had to wait in line… for a long time.

Location, as you would imagine, has plenty to do with it, too. The Jacksonville Jaguars play in North Florida, while the teams that typically play on Thanksgiving have no links to them in terms of rivalries or conference concerns. So, there’s hardly any reason to have them play against Dallas, Chicago, Green Bay, or Detroit.

The Packers-Dolphins game is the only fixture on this year’s slate that isn’t a rivalry game. But they have their markets and past success going for them.
